System Updates for Academic Year 2018-19 posted Wednesday, August 08, 2018

Upon review of not only operations conducted during School Year 17-18 but also student/passenger responses from surveys, the described changes represent a concerted effort on the part of Tiger Transit to not only enhance the transit experience but also to obtain the most efficient utilization of our constrained resources. These changes are effective on August 6, 2018.

Fall Semester SY 18 - 19

Regular Service (M-F 7:00 AM until 6:00 PM)

-  Central – East Campus (Health Sciences Sector and South Quad – East Campus Lines)

This route has been divided into two separate/distinct routes in order to better service the Health Sciences sector and the South Quad – East Campus area. In order to transfer between the two routes, passengers need to utilize either the AU Medical Center transit stop code 110 or the S. Quad Parking Deck transit stop code 195.

a.       Health Sciences Sector Line.

The design of this route increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the service by reducing the number of currently serviced transit stops from ten to five.  This reduction in designated transit stops decreases the amount of time necessary for a bus to complete one circuit of the new Health Sciences Sector Line as compared to the old Central-East Campus Line.  This new route provides service for the Recreation and Wellness Center, the Health Sciences Sector, the AU Medical Center, and the South Quad Parking Deck. This revision of the route provides a more direct means for students to utilize existing dining venues without moving their personally owned vehicle.

b.      South Quad – East Campus Line.

The design of this route increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the service by reducing the number of currently serviced transit stops from ten to seven.  This reduction in designated transit stops decreases the amount of time necessary for a bus to complete one circuit of the new South Quad – East Campus Line as compared to the old Central-East Campus Line.  This new route provides service for the Mell Street Classroom Building, Goodwin Music Hall, Telfair B. Peet Theatre, South Donahue Residence Hall, AU Medical Center, South Quad Parking Deck and Terrell Dining Hall, and the AU Medical Center.

- North Auburn Line ( Aviation School )

There has been a slight modification to this line.  Service for the Research Building #2 on Skyway Drive has been discontinued due to no utilization. The Auburn University Regional Airport is now designated as a regular service transit stop.

-  North College Line

There has been a slight modification to this line. Transfer of service for the 319 Bragg Avenue stop code 704 from the North Ross Line.  The transit stop code 546 designated as the Sanders Street at Bragg Avenue (outbound) has been shifted to the corner of Sanders Street @ W Drake Avenue.

-  North Ross Line

The redesign of this route increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the service by reducing the number of currently serviced transit stops from twelve to eleven. Changes include a slight route change, transfer of service for the 319 Bragg Ave stop code 704 to the North College Line, and the shifting of the Frazier St @ Drake Avenue (outbound) stop code 706 to the corner of Gay Street @ E Drake Avenue.

 -  Ross – Harper Line (Magnolia Line and Glenn - Harper Line)

This route has been divided into two separate/distinct routes in order to better service the area formerly serviced by the Ross- Harper Line.

a.      Glenn - Harper Line.

The design of this route increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the service by reducing the number of currently serviced transit stops from fifteen to eight.  This reduction in designated transit stops decreases the amount of time necessary for a bus to complete one circuit of the new Glenn – Harper Line as compared to the old Ross – Harper Line.  This new route provides service for those stops along Gay St, Ross St., and Harper Avenue.

b.       Magnolia Line.

The design of this route increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the service by reducing the number of currently serviced transit stops from fifteen to nine.  This reduction in designated transit stops decreases the amount of time necessary for a bus to complete one circuit of the new Magnolia Line as compared to the old Ross – Harper Line.  This new route provides service for those stops along Magnolia Avenue, Gay St, Ross St and N Debardeleben St.

 -  South Auburn Line

The redesign of this route increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall system. By maintaining an outbound from campus service (7:00 AM until 6:00 PM) at the designated Tiger Transit stop located at Conway Acres on Wire Road but also, based on a test conducted during the Spring semester, providing for an inbound service at the Social Apartment Homes (stop codes 296 and 297). This inbound service utilizes carrying capacity on the South Auburn Line to augment the service of the Longleaf Line for the Social Apartment Homes. This inbound to campus service is being provided only during the hours of 7:15 AM until 10:00 AM.  As a reminder, the South Auburn, Longleaf and Wire Road Lines service the Heisman Drive Transit Hub on campus.

After 10:00 AM, the transit service for the designated Tiger Transit stop located at The Social Apartment Homes is only provided by the Longleaf Line.

- Webster Road Line

Safety concerns at the intersection of Webster Road and Wire Road necessitate the removal of service for the transit stop previously located at The Hearthstone development location.  Any passengers who require service can easily access the Tiger Transit system from the designated transit stop at The Brookes (stop code 283) on Wire Road.

- West Campus Line

There has been a slight modification to the route traversed by this line. The redesign of this route increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the service by reducing the number of currently serviced transit stops from eight to seven.   The stop located at the corner of Linden and Beech Street is no longer serviced by the West Campus Line. Service can still be obtained by utilizing the Old Row – West Parking Line stop code 122.

Transit Service for all other existing Tiger Transit stops is not affected by the changes outlined in this document.
